"That district is insane!" - quote from random Elder
Bom dia everyone!!! I have now completed week two of the MTC! It was an awesome week since I now know where everything is here and i'm just getting into the groove of everything here. My district is also still awesome and I'm also getting into the groove of being DL and remembering everything I'm supposed to be doing for that.
We still love to go play volleyball every morning at 6:40 and the basketball gym reopened this week so we started doing that as well. We love challenging other districts in both games and are still undefeated. All the guys in my district are like 5'10'' or taller, all except for Elder Morris who is like 5'6'' but hes one of the funniest guys. He's buff and we buzzed his head on Friday night, and he just says the most out of pocket funny things all the time! Plus, in portugeuse the r makes the h sound so we call him mo-hees. We also all got these random shirts from Elder Dawson because his dad is the principal at lone peak high school. They just say Todd Dawson thinks i'm awesome and they are now our volleyball uniforms. I attached a picture of us all wearing them on the stairs in our dorms. All that helps explain the title of my emajl today as well and that is a direct quote from a kid we destroyed in volleyball!
We just spend most of our time in classes which is fun but not very fun to right about so heres some of the out of the ordinary stuff we did. On Tuesday we went to the timpanogos temple and did initiatories and baptisms. WE and my companion went first so we finished first and got to have a good personal and companion study on the temple grounds. On Wednesday our district got assigned to help welcome all the new missionaries to the mtc. WE pick them up from there car and take them through the whole orientation thing until we take them to their dorms and drop them off. It was weird to think that was me only 2 weeks ago. Some of them were super sad and I felt kinda bad just leaving them in their dorms sitting on their beds with blank stares on their faces, but some of them were super excited and eager to get going! Then on Thursday we got assigned to do a service project and we got to clean the s1 building. Me and my comp got assigned to clean all the windows in the building so I was just cleaning windows for like and hour and a half which wasn't super fun but we got it done!
There is so many experiences here that I have felt the spirit and built my testimony. One of them was last week Elder Bright got sick and started having super bad allergies as well. He asked me if I could give him a blessing and I told him could. I don't really know why he asked me but I was happy too. Just in his little dorm we pulled out a chair and his companion anointed him and I sealed the blessing. The next day he said his allergies were gone and he was already feeling a little better from his sickness. It built my testimony and confidence a lot and I was super glad I had that experience.
Missionary thought: For one of my personal studies this week I read chapter 7 of Moroni. I specifically really liked verses 15 and 16. I love how it talks so much about how all good things come directly from god, and that you can know when you are feeling the spirit because it is always something good. Moroni says "ye may know with a perfect knowledge it is of god." There is hardly anything on this earth that can be perfect, but our knowledge of good and evil can be one of those things. That is a very comforting thought. But it also says in verse 19 that we have to work for this gift by searching diligently for the light of christ. I would encourage and invite all you guys to keep doing that so you may have a perfect knowledge of what is good!
I love you all and always love getting emails from you! Have a great week!
-Elder Peters
