Joe Rogan, Drew Brees, and Texas High School Football

Image
Hello everyone!! I'll get right to the point of the title of my email today. So I'm sure everyone has heard about high school football in Texas. I had heard about it before too and thought it couldn't really be that much better than football in Utah, but I got proven wrong this past Friday! Halfway through the day we got a text from one of our members saying that he got tickets for us to go to the football game that night. So of course we accepted them! We arrived at the tailgate and even that was awesome, but then we took our seats. And yes people even have reserved seats and basically season passes to high school football games here. The stadium apparently holds 12000 people which is crazy for high school, and I also think that the parents and family sections get more into it than the student section which was fun! But turns out famous qb Drew Brees went to the high school here and he came out on the field before the game and said hi to everyone. Apparently Joe Rogan was ...

"This ain't my first rodeo!"

Sunset in Texas! First week in Texas and in the mission field is now complete! And I take back my earlier statement, it has felt like my first rodeo. But in a good way! It is quite different than the MTC and there is so many things I am trying to learn right now. I got a great trainer though and what are the odds he is also from Kaysville and went to Davis high! If any of you back home knew Clint Sanders he is now my trainer and he is awesome.  I do have a good story from my travels getting here that quite literally felt like riding a bull in a rodeo. So to put it simply my original flight here had an engine fail 30 min into our flight!! Everything was going smoothly until all of the sudden the plane felt like it slightly dropped and then it felt like turbulence on steroids! The captian came over the intercom and I only remember him saying "Stay calm, we have engine failure, fasten your seatbelts we are heading back to SLC!" So we went back to SLC and they got us another flig...

Last run with Jonny and Elder Skocroft! I have no idea if I spelled his  last name right so let me know Jonny   Olá everyone! Last week at the MTC and it was awesome!! I leave to go to Austin Texas tomorrow at 3 am and its crazy to think in less than 24 hours I will be a full time missionary! I am so excited to get fully enveloped in the work and somehow at the same time a little sad to leave the MTC. I have never grown so much in feeling and teaching with the spirit as I have here! Last week was also FSL week for us which means we were only allowed to speak portugeuse the whole week and it was hard but I got so much better at speaking and even felt the spirit a lot when teaching in portugeuse. In my last class on Saturday with Irmão Shipp he asked to think about where we would be if we weren't serving a mission right now. I thought about it and realized that I would most likely not be growing spiritually the way I am now. Even though I could not wait to leave the MTC a lot of...

General Conference in the MTC   Olá everyone!! That conference weekend was awesome and I will talk about how much I loved it in a second but the biggest personal update I have is that I got my mission reassignment last Wednesday! I have been called to serve in the Austin Texas mission! I honestly could not be more happy with this assignment, anyone that knows me from back home knows how much I loved to wear my cowboy boots and hat, and always listening to my country music which is all very big there. Plus barbeque has got to be one of the greatest foods on this planet, I've learned from my friends in my district from Texas that brisket is a very big thing in Austin which is my favorite type of BBQ.  The same with a lot of other missionaries though I did struggle a little bit with getting reassigned and not going strait to Mozambique. Mainly because I will not be teaching in Portuguese, I will either be teaching in English or Spanish! At first I really struggled with this becau...
