Texas Talkers

My Zone at Zone Conference

First, here's the link to my photos:

What a week!! I have learned that there is people that the missionaries here call Texas Talkers. So many people here LOVE to talk. Especially about Jesus. We'll ask them a question relating to Jesus, and they'll start praising him telling us how much good stuff he has done for them, and then proceed to tell us their entire life story. It's awesome until we ask them about church and then they say they're not interested. Really friendly and spiritual people though!

Fixing a members boat dock.

We put Shawn on date to be baptized December 13th!! Thank you all if you have been praying for him because those prayers have been answered, and keep praying for him!! There has been so many miracles we have seen with him. One of the coolest ones was when we were decided when to baptize him. He accepted the invite to be baptized but wasn't sure when he could because he is very busy. We told him we usually do it on Saturdays, and then decided to say a prayer to help us decide when. I was able to say that prayer and I prayed specifically that Shawn could know a date to be baptized on. Immediately after I said amen he said he knew he wanted to be baptized on December 13th. I pulled out my phone to check the calendar to see if it was a Saturday and it was!! He came to church as well and we also had another lesson with him last night that was another spiritually powerful meeting.

During all these experiences with Shawn, my testimony has gotten so much stronger. It is crazy to be living the missionary stories that I have heard so much. Extending a baptism invitation was maybe one of the scariest but most amazing things I've ever done. I'm promising blessings to him I never thought I could, but have no doubt that through faith in Jesus Christ he can have them.

I'm just gonna make this my spiritual thought i guess. I'm already so grateful for my decision to serve a mission. Helping others come unto Christ has brought me so much joy and helped solidify my testimony. I know that Jesus Christ is our savior and redeemer. Because of him we can be forgiven and learn how to be a better person. He loves us and never leaves us alone and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ amen.

Other random highlights from the week:
- Went on exchanges with Elder Jones on Tuesday. We call him Papa Jones because he is going home after this transfer so he's "old." I learned a lot of good things from him though.
- Had my first zone conference on Friday! It was so fun meeting a lot of other missionaries I could possible be serving with in the future. Also very spiritual experience and I learned a lot.
- Jeff, another one of our friends, loves to play the guitar. Fun moment was when I realized I was sitting in a trailer in the middle of a trailer park, probably getting slightly high from secondhand smoke, singing "This Little Light of Mine" with Jeff jamming out on his guitar, while I counted four 9mm handguns sitting right next to him!
- Got to fix a boat dock which I have never done before.

I love you all!!
