Attitude of Gratitude!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

So this was probably the best week of my life! I apologize in advance cuz this is going to be a long email. Jordan was baptized🌊 Saturday morning, and then confirmed yesterday during sacrament meeting!! He was baptized by a young man in our ward who helped us teach him and they are good friends! I got to give a talk about the Holy Ghost at his baptism, and then stand in the circle as he was confirmed!

The most amazing part from this weekend was the things I learned though. I will say, on Saturday after Jordans baptism, I weirdly didn't feel the joy that I thought I would feel after my first baptism, or that I have heard so many other missionaries feel when they baptize someone. It was weird, I was happy for him, but I thought I would just have this completely overwhelming feeling of joy and sense of accomplishment wash over me, but I didn't. Fast forward to sacrament meeting, after he has been confirmed, and its testimony meeting. Jordan turned to me and said he wanted to share his testimony, but that he was pretty nervous. So I told him that I would go up with him, so we did. He bore his testimony first and it was awesome! He told his whole story about finding the church and ultimately how he KNOWS that it is the true church of Christ. This is when I really started to feel that joy I thought I would feel because he shared just how strong his testimony really is! I was loving it so much, then he said amen and it was my turn and I realized I had no idea what I was going to say! But then the spirit kicked in! But I want to tell you what I said in my spiritual thought so stay tuned! ⬇️⬇️

The story doesn't quite end there either. You might not remember from my past emails, but Jordans dad Lloyd has been joining some of our lessons with Jordan and is also showing some interest! Him and the rest of Jordans family came to his baptism, and also to sacrament meeting to watch him get confirmed! And remember how it was testimony meeting, well guess who I saw marching up to the pulpit halfway through the meeting!! LLOYD!!🤯 He got up and shared his testimony about how grateful he is for his sons decision, and the ward family being so kind! Me and Elder Christensen's goal is to get Lloyd and the rest of his family baptized.

Other highlights from the week: 
- We went to Cabo Bob's last p-day which is a super good Mexican restaurant here
- We went to an Amish furniture store, don't ask why
- We had an absolutely baller exchange with Elder Routson and Elder Smith. We had a really good time together and I'm so grateful for both these Elders. 
- New Years Eve party with the Stewarts! 

Spiritual thought: 
You gotta have gratitude! The spirit took the lead when I shared my testimony and I talked about how I know that god had a plan for us, and everything happens for a reason. I'm so grateful that I don't quite have my visa yet because that meant I got to meet Jordan and his family, and so many other people in the ward here. I challenge you all to have an attitude of gratitude this year!! You will notice just how blessed we are even in the little things!!

I can't believe 2025 is over, so much happened last year! But I am so excited to be a missionary for all of 2026! Happy New Year!

  How's it going everyone!!! This week was so fun meeting everyone in my district! From the first class we all connected immediately and get along so well. Being in a district of 16 guys who all just graduated high schools feels like I'm really just back in high school hanging out with the boys. Being here for only 5 days so far just feels like I'm st FSY making a bunch of new friends! We love learning new portugeuse slang and our favorite one right now is muito bom. It literally just translates to very good and you do this snapping thing with your hand while your saying it! I also got made district leader on Thursday which really just adds a couple meetings per week for me and I have to lead a lot of the district council meetings, but other than that it's just really fun!   Bom dia everyone!!! I have now completed week two of the MTC! It was an awesome week  since I now know where everything is here and i'm just getting into the groove of everything here. My district is also still awesome and I'm also getting into the groove of being DL and remembering everything I'm supposed to be doing for that.  We still love to go play volleyball every morning at 6:40 and the basketball gym reopened this week so we started doing that as well. We love challenging other districts in both games and are still undefeated. All the guys in my district are like 5'10'' or taller, all except for Elder Morris who is like 5'6'' but hes one of the funniest guys. He's buff and we buzzed his head on Friday night, and he just says the most out of pocket funny things all the time! Plus, in portugeuse the r makes the h sound so we call him mo-hees. "This ain't my first rodeo!"

Sunset in Texas! First week in Texas and in the mission field is now complete! And I take back my earlier statement, it has felt like my first rodeo. But in a good way! It is quite different than the MTC and there is so many things I am trying to learn right now. I got a great trainer though and what are the odds he is also from Kaysville and went to Davis high! If any of you back home knew Clint Sanders he is now my trainer and he is awesome.  I do have a good story from my travels getting here that quite literally felt like riding a bull in a rodeo. So to put it simply my original flight here had an engine fail 30 min into our flight!! Everything was going smoothly until all of the sudden the plane felt like it slightly dropped and then it felt like turbulence on steroids! The captian came over the intercom and I only remember him saying "Stay calm, we have engine failure, fasten your seatbelts we are heading back to SLC!" So we went back to SLC and they got us another flig...
